The Direction . . .

Today as I was reading, I read Proverbs 3:1-12. The verse that really jumped out at me was the following:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLTSE) Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

At various times in our lives, every one of us begins asking questions. Questions about our future. Questions about our destiny. Questions about what we should do next. I was so gently reminded this morning by Holy Spirit that if I seek Him in all that I do, He’ll show me the path which I am to take. I know it sounds so simple, and many of us in the Church have heard this many times before. However, when we allow the Truth of the Word to grip our hearts, something happens. Life begins to spring forth in the areas of our lives that were nearly dead. As I was encouraged today, I encourage you as well. Trust God. Don’t rely on your ability to think and perceive and conjure a way to make your plans work. Rather, seek God in all that you put your hands, your hearts, and your minds to do. In the end, He promises us this one thing – He will show us which path to take. So today, rest in that assurance. If you abide in Him, He will direct you in every step you are to take in life. Thank God for His amazing promises and His overwhelming grace!

  1. Very timely word, Pastor Jon! I know there have been times I have tried to figure out what God was up to, and I was so wrong! God does so much abundantly more than we can dream or ask, so I am learning to let Him do whatever He wants. There are also times that I can get so focused on the call of “trusting”, “not depending”, and “seeking” that I forget the promise “He WILL show us which path to take”! My heart is yielded, I only want His best, and I strive to obey whatever He tells me. I am so glad His promises are based on His character and not my ability to do all these things perfectly. Good reminder that its not about our “doing” but rather just resting in the One Who promises and is faithful o us!

  2. ALL my heart!!! ALL the time!!! We must keep our eyes on Him, ALL the time!! He wouldn’t tell us if He didn’t make a Way to do it. He is the Way!

  3. “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all these things will be added unto thee” is what the Spirit pierced my heart with this morning and your recent blog just comfirmed what He has been trying to get me to understand for sometime. Thanks for the good word!

  4. Good word Pastor! And as far as the right path to take…I have come to have great faith that God will truly answer my prayers…and have therefore been taking great caution as to what I pray for! I know if I ask Him to LET me go down a certain path, or to deliver me from the path that I am on, He will do it. Just like the Prodigal’s father allowed his son to take his inheritance and run. But if I will just wait…trust in Him…He WILL show me the way…show me what to pray…and ordain the circumstances around me to keep me on His perfect path. 🙂

  5. i know it all sounded so simple when we were children “trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey”
it surely is simple when there is nothing to trust Him for — and
it shouldnt be more complex when we are adults—- back to being a child again
    simple trustlike faith.
