We Already Do That

I’ve heard it what seems like a hundred times — “we already do that.” In an age of leadership information overload, there is no lack of information on leadership. Simply subscribe to a dozen ‘leadership gurus,’ and your Twitter feed will be filled with today’s list of “how to’s” and “ten steps to this or that.” I love it. I read them everyday and am constantly learning about leadership. But I never learn anything by saying “I already do that.”

We’ve all done it. I do it. We overlook all the things that we’re not doing (and probably should be) to find the one thing that makes us feel good about ourselves and our leadership. The lesson isn’t found in finding “what you already do.” The lesson is found in what you haven’t yet done and should be. Leaders, I encourage you to look at what you’re not doing and should be. This is the place we grow.

    Pastor John,
Reading a super book recommended by Maria Alzemora titled; The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by: Patrick Lencioni. The things that are “truly simple” but yet extremely difficult to develop…..and so rewarding when it comes to develping a Team. It really is about Leadership at the core. And it all about developing genuine productive and constructive relationships that achieve goals together. This book is awesome and I’m planning to share it with my team and work through it together.
You’re honesty and sincerity inspires and encourges me so much. You are a top leader. Thank you.
